You Might Be a Collector (Even If You Don’t Think You Are)
The other day my wife and I were talking about collections.
“You know I collect postcards,” I said. At first, we both kind of shrugged and agreed, “We really don’t have any other collections.”
But then we started mentally “walking” through our house.
At first, nothing obvious came to mind—just my postcards in the office. But then we kept going.
Books. Everywhere.
Not just in the library, but in the living room, family room, guest bedroom, sitting room, sewing room… even the bathroom. At that point, we had to admit it—we definitely have a book collection.
Then we remembered the vinyl records from the 1940s and 50s that belonged to my wife’s parents, carefully stored in the library. Right next to them? A small but meaningful collection of bells that had belonged to her mother.
In the game room, there’s a collection of board games—and another of jigsaw puzzles.
Elsewhere in the house, there’s a coin collection I started back in the 50s and 60s when my brother and I were in the Boy Scouts.
And honestly, that’s probably not even everything.
You’re Probably a Collector Too
That’s when it hit me:
Most of us are collectors—we just don’t think of ourselves that way.
Our collections are often scattered, tucked away, or simply part of everyday life. Because of that, they don’t get the appreciation they deserve—from us or from others who might share our interests.
Bring Your Collection to Life
That’s where The Collecting Site comes in.
Instead of your collections sitting on shelves, in boxes, or spread across different rooms, you can:
- Organize everything in one place
- Add details, stories, and photos
- Keep your collection private while you build it
- Share it publicly when you’re ready
Suddenly, your collection becomes something more—it becomes something you can enjoy, grow, and share.
Start Your Collection Today
I’ve realized it’s time for me to do the same—start adding my postcards and bringing that collection to life online.
Take a few minutes and “walk” through your own house.
What collections do you already have?
Once you find them, start organizing, categorizing, and sharing them with others who will appreciate them just as much as you do.
👉 Visit www.thecollectingsite.com and start your collection today.
Have fun collecting.
